About Doxepin

Doxepin is a tricyclic with exceptionally potent H1 and H2 blockade — on a per-mg basis, roughly 1,000x more antihistaminic than diphenhydramine. Low-dose compounded doxepin (3–6 mg capsules, not commercially available) is widely used in chronic urticaria, refractory pruritus, and MCAS sleep protocols. Compounded topical creams (typically 5%) are used for localized pruritus.
