Sinus & Nasal Compounds

Medicated nasal irrigations and sprays for chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, and post-surgical sinus care — steroid, antibiotic, antifungal, and antihistamine preparations compounded per prescription.

About Sinus & Nasal

Sinus and nasal compounding delivers medication directly to inflamed or infected sinus tissue, most often as additives to a high-volume saline irrigation. The workhorse is budesonide nasal rinse — a topical corticosteroid irrigation used for chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps, especially after endoscopic sinus surgery has opened the sinus cavities. For culture-positive infections that resist oral antibiotics, ENTs prescribe culture-directed antibiotic rinses such as mupirocin for Staphylococcus aureus, and antifungal irrigations in select cases. Compounded antihistamine and multi-ingredient sprays round out the category. These preparations are patient-specific: the prescriber sets the ingredients, strengths, and rinse schedule, and a licensed compounding pharmacy prepares them. Sinus and nasal preparations consistently rank among the most common compounding categories in national prescription surveys, yet many patients never learn the option exists until surgery is already on the table.
