Vulvodynia / Pelvic Pain
Chronic vulvar and pelvic pain treated with compounded topical neuromodulators, anesthetics, and muscle relaxants applied where the pain is — without systemic side effects.
About Vulvodynia
Vulvodynia and chronic pelvic pain are underdiagnosed conditions where compounding plays an outsized role, because almost none of the standard treatments exist commercially in the forms this anatomy requires. Compounded topical amitriptyline (often combined with baclofen), gabapentin cream, and lidocaine preparations are applied directly to the vestibule or vulva, delivering neuropathic pain relief at the site with minimal systemic absorption — an alternative to oral tricyclics or gabapentinoids and their sedation. For pelvic floor muscle spasm, prescribers may add compounded vaginal muscle-relaxant suppositories to a pelvic physical therapy program. Formulation matters greatly on sensitive tissue: compounding pharmacies prepare these in bland, preservative-minimized bases chosen for mucosal use. Treatment is typically coordinated by a gynecologist, urogynecologist, or pelvic pain specialist.
