How Much Does Compounded Oxandrolone Cost? (2026 Price Guide)

Compounding Finder·August 27, 2026·4 min read

Oxandrolone is a case where the commercial product went away and compounding became the remaining route — but it is also a controlled substance, which changes who can fill it far more than price does.

Why oxandrolone is compounded

Oxandrolone was sold in the U.S. as Oxandrin, and generic oxandrolone tablets were available. Those products have been discontinued. A prescriber who wants oxandrolone today generally has to write it to a compounding pharmacy.

That makes it a discontinued-drug compound — the same category as amlexanox and a handful of others, where compounding is not a preference but the only remaining legal path.

Schedule III changes the search more than the price

Oxandrolone is an anabolic steroid and a Schedule III controlled substance in the United States. Three practical consequences:

Far fewer pharmacies will fill it. A compounding pharmacy needs appropriate DEA registration and state authority, and many that compound freely otherwise decline controlled substances entirely.

Shipping is state-restricted. A pharmacy able to ship controlled substances into one state may not be able to ship into yours. This is the most common reason an oxandrolone quote request comes back with one or two responses rather than several — eligibility, not price.

Refills are limited. Schedule III restricts refills and the prescription has a shorter usable life than a non-controlled one, so per-fill cost is what matters.

What compounded oxandrolone costs

A caveat first, stated plainly: our price-list coverage for oxandrolone is thin — only a handful of priced rows across active pharmacies, because so few stock it. Treat the following as directional and get live quotes for your actual prescription.

On that limited data, quotes commonly run between roughly $90 and $200 per fill, with capsules the dominant form.

Forms requested, in order: capsules, then troches / lozenges.

What affects the price

Strength and count. The main lever, as with any capsule compound.

Controlled-substance handling. Some pharmacies add a handling or signature-required shipping fee.

Which pharmacies can serve your state. With a small eligible pool, prices are less disciplined than on a widely-stocked compound. Comparison still helps; expect a smaller field.

Prescription requirements

Oxandrolone requires a valid prescription from a licensed U.S. prescriber with appropriate DEA authority. There is no legal path without one, and any site offering to ship anabolic steroids without a prescription should be treated as illegitimate — this is a category where unlicensed sellers are a documented and serious problem.

Give your state and ZIP accurately when requesting quotes. It determines which pharmacies can legally serve you, and a wrong ZIP produces a quote you cannot use.

Frequently asked questions

How much does compounded oxandrolone cost? On limited data, roughly $90 to $200 per fill. Our coverage for this compound is thin because few pharmacies stock it, so treat that as directional.

Why was Oxandrin discontinued? The branded product and its generics were withdrawn from the U.S. market. Compounding is now the remaining route for a prescriber who specifically wants oxandrolone.

Why did only one pharmacy quote me? Almost always controlled-substance shipping eligibility rather than price. Schedule III status limits which pharmacies can ship to which states.

Do I need a prescription? Yes, from a licensed U.S. prescriber with DEA authority.
