Neuropeptide / Oxytocin Drug Class

Neuropeptides are signaling molecules used by neurons to communicate. In compounded medicine, oxytocin and related neuropeptides are used for social bonding support, sexual dysfunction, postpartum recovery, and autism spectrum conditions.

How It Works

Oxytocin binds to oxytocin receptors in the brain, uterus, and mammary glands. It modulates social behavior, trust, pair bonding, and sexual arousal. PT-141 (bremelanotide) activates melanocortin receptors in the CNS to stimulate sexual desire.

Why Compounded?

Commercial oxytocin is available as a nasal spray (Syntocinon) in some countries but not the US. Compounded oxytocin nasal sprays, troches, and PT-141 nasal sprays for sexual dysfunction are only available through compounding pharmacies.
